FORGIVEN OF ALL TRESPASSES
           - By Frank Ehinze

"And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;"
             - Colossians 2:13

There's still this misconception about the suffering of a Christian or a believer for the sins of his parents. Some people believe that being a believer in Christ Jesus is not enough. It is believed that after becoming a believer, one still have to pray harder and do a lot of fasting and seed sowing to break from foundational curse, or from the curse as a result of the sins of one's parents. But all these conception cannot be true, because they don't build faith but fear. By the understanding of John 8:32, simple understanding of the truth makes you free. It means any message or belief that brings fear to you to push you to strive for freedom is a lie. There's no fear in the character of the truth.

In the book of John 9:1-3, Jesus was passing by with his disciples, and they met a man who was blind from birth. Now, on seeing the blind man, the first thing that came into the mind of the disciples was a conclusion that the man or his parents had sinned, so they asked Jesus in verse 2, saying, "Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?" But see what Jesus replied them in verse 3, "Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him."

There was no place in the bible where Jesus told anyone that their suffering or sicknesses were as a result of the sin of their parents. So, judging in the manner of parents sins does not represent a character of God. When Jesus found the sick, He immediately healed them without relating their sicknesses to their parents sins. Do you know why? The answer is in our theme verse. Let's see in the following paragraphs.

It is true that under the old covenant, children suffered for the sins of their parents, but not after Jesus came. Look at our theme verse, it didn't say, Jesus having forgiven us all 'our' trespasses, it only said He has forgiven us all trespasses. It means the trespasses He forgave you of has not only to do with your trespasses, but all trespasses. Whether your sins or the sins of your parents, they are all forgiven. You are totally free from everything called sin. Glory to God. You don't need to pray too much prayers to break free from generational curse. Just know this truth and confess that all sins are forgiven you, both yours and those of your parents. Hallelujah!

                   CONFESSION
I am forgiven of all trespasses, both mine and that of my parents, I have no sin to suffer for. Thank you Jesus. Amen!
